Lifting Gear Hire & Sales provides specialist rental of rigging, hoisting and load testing equipment across Western Australia to a diverse customer base that includes construction, mobile crane, port/maritime, engineering and civil construction sectors.
We are seeking a dedicated and self-motivated Workshop Technician to join our team.

The Role
Working as part of a small but supportive branch environment, where everyone works together to ensure customer needs are met, you will be the person primarily responsible for day-to-day workshop activities; ensuring operations run smoothly and in accordance with company standards and directions of the Branch Manager.
The work is typically Monday to Friday, but overtime and weekend work may also be available from time to time, paid at penalty rates.
A snapshot of the role includes:
Prepare and pack rental equipment for collection and dispatch.
Assist customers with collections and returns, including packing, loading and unloading of equipment.
Conduct off-hire equipment inspections, clean equipment, and record findings.
Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop.
Quarantine non-conforming equipment for further inspection, repair or service.
Co-ordinate inspections and certification of rental equipment with external providers.
Maintain certification records, asset documentation, and ERP system records.
Meet customer service and delivery standards.
Answer incoming calls and assist customers with enquiries, as needed.
What we are looking for - Must Haves
The ability to work autonomously and take ownership of the workshop.
Forklift (LF) High Risk work Licence and proven experience using forklifts in a warehouse/workshop.
Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or industrial environment.
Good communication skills – including customer service experience, and the ability to communicate effectively in a team.
Evidence of good numeracy and literacy skills.
Evidence of high attention to detail.
Good mechanical aptitude.
A valid, unrestricted manual driver’s licence.
The ability to work in a physical environment, including regular manual handling and lifting (safe) loads in accordance with WHS procedures.
Solid skills skills in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word and SharePoint), and the ability to quickly learn our ERP system (Point of Rental).
Willingness to learn and capability to apply Australian Standards.
Ability to understand technical drawings and parts lists.
The legal right to work in Australia on a full time, permanent basis.
Willing to undergo a pre-employment medical, including drug & alcohol screening.
What we are looking for – Nice to Have
Experience in industrial equipment hire.
High Risk work Licences including Dogging (DG), Basic Rigging (SB), or Intermediate Rigging (SI).
Exposure to environments that require rigging, lifting, or height safety equipment, or working with cranes.
A trade certificate or Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering (or similar).
HR Truck licence (we are willing to help you obtain this).
