Wallis Drilling based in Hazelmere, maintain a small diverse machine shop to manufacture parts and components as well as carry out repair and jobbing work for our contract drilling division.

The Job:
We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Machinist/Machinist Leading Hand. 

Position duties will include:

  • Operate machining equipment including manual lathe, milling machine and boring machine. Operation and setup experience of CNC Lathe and Milling machine is advantages but not essential. 

  • Machine components from engineering drawings within specified tolerances

  • Use measuring tools such as Vernier calipers, bore gauges, micrometers, thread gauges, depth micrometers and other measuring tools to achieve required tolerances

  • Carry out basic assembly of components

  • Maintain documentation in accordance with Wallis Drillings procedure

  • Adhere to and promote company and client procedures (such as risk identification, health and safety).

Essential qualifications/abilities are:

  • A recognised Trade Qualification in Machining

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

  • Be punctual and reliable with a positive attitude and strong work ethic

  • Be physically fit and healthy in accordance with demands of the role (pass medical testing and ongoing/random D&A),

  • Be team and safety focused with a willingness to learn

  • Residency - Perth metro (interstate or international applications not considered at this time)

Beneficial qualifications/abilities are:

  • Forklift ticket

  • Relevant experience in drilling or related industries
