FIFO Trades Assistant, Essential Services

Location: Warburton & surrounding remote communities, WA
Roster:
15 days on / 13 days off

The Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated FIFO Trades Assistant to join our Essential Services team. In this role, you will provide hands-on support to skilled tradespeople responsible for maintaining critical infrastructure in remote communities, including water, sewage, and power stations. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience, work in a culturally rich environment, and contribute to the well-being of remote communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist tradespeople with maintenance, repair, and installation of essential services infrastructure.

  • Operate and maintain hand tools and basic equipment under supervision.

  • Prepare work sites, clean up after tasks, and support logistics including transport of equipment.

  • Adhere to workplace health and safety guidelines and participate in safety briefings.

  • Document work completed, track materials usage, and provide updates to supervisors.

  • Respectfully liaise with community members and contribute to culturally sensitive service delivery.

Skills and Experience

  • Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.

  • Willingness to learn and gain experience supporting trades in essential services.

  • Understanding of workplace health and safety practices, especially in remote environments.

  • Strong communication, teamwork, and cultural awareness.

  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel to remote locations.

  • Previous experience in remote or Indigenous communities highly desirable.

Qualifications (Desirable / Preferred)

  • White Card, First Aid, CPR, Confined Space, Gas Testing, Pit Rescue, LV Rescue

  • HR/HC Driver’s Licence (or willingness to obtain)

  • Forklift, EWP, Crane or Hiab ticket, Excavator ticket, Working at Heights

Working Conditions

  • FIFO roster to remote communities with extended stays.

  • Physically demanding, outdoor work in a variety of weather conditions.

  • On-call duties may be required depending on service needs.
