Lead Maintenance Officer – Aged Care Employment Opportunity

Are you an experienced and hands‑on maintenance professional looking for a rewarding role where your work directly supports the comfort, safety, and wellbeing of residents? We are seeking a reliable and proactive Lead Maintenance Officer to join our aged care team.
About the Role
As the Lead Maintenance Officer, you will be responsible for providing hands-on maintenance services while coordinating the daily activities of the Maintenance Officers and Gardeners. You will ensure our aged care facility and grounds are safe, functional, and well‑maintained. You'll carry out repairs, preventative maintenance, and routine inspections while responding promptly to the maintenance requests from staff and residents. Your work helps create a comfortable and supportive environment for older people in our care.
Key Responsibilities include:
Provide maintenance of the building under the direction the Site Manager and Hotel Service Officer.
Perform general repairs including basic carpentry, plumbing, painting, minor electrical tasks, and outdoor day to day tasks.
Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on buildings, equipment, and grounds.
Complete maintenance logs, work orders, and compliance documentation
Maintain all rooms, communal areas, fixtures and fittings, and mobility‑related equipment.
Ensure all maintenance activities comply with WHS/OHS and aged‑care safety requirements.
Assist with fire safety checks, emergency lighting inspections, and hazard reporting.
Support management staff and residents by responding to maintenance requests courteously and efficiently.
Liaise with external contractors and supervise onsite works where required
Monitor and maintain required levels of stores and supplies throughout the facility.
Maintain a safe, clean and tidy work environment.
What We're Looking For:
Previous experience leading a team in aged care, healthcare, community or residential facility maintenance
Trade qualification or proven in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, mechanical
A high attention to detail
Familiarity with WHS and compliance required.
Familiarity with tools, machinery, and safety protocols.
A compassionate and patient attitude, with a genuine interest in working with the elderly.
The ability to work independently and manage your time effectively.
Hold a 'Test & Tag' Certificate desirable, however not essential.
Excellent communication skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.
Current National Police Clearance
Evidence of Vaccinations.
A valid driver's license (desirable).
