$40 - $45 Hourly

Fabrication & Construction

  • Cut, shape, and form metal plates, tubes, and structural sections using hand tools, power tools, and machinery
  • Fabricate pressure vessels, tanks, boilers, and heat exchangers to engineering drawings and specifications
  • Assemble large components using jigs, fixtures, and lifting equipment
  • Perform fit-up of structural and pressure parts prior to welding

Welding & Joining

  • Weld components using MIG, TIG, SMAW (stick), and flux-core processes
  • Perform tack welding during assembly and fit-up stages
  • Carry out post-weld treatments such as stress relieving or heat treatment as required

Reading & Interpretation

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, isometric diagrams, and weld maps
  • Work from job cards, work orders, and material specifications
  • Apply relevant Australian Standards (AS/NZS) and pressure vessel codes (e.g. AS 1210, AS 4041)

Quality & Inspection

  • Conduct visual inspections of welds and fabrications
  • Assist with non-destructive testing (NDT) activities such as dye penetrant, magnetic particle, or ultrasonic testing
  • Ensure dimensional accuracy using measuring tools (tape, vernier calipers, squares, levels)
  • Complete inspection records, weld logs, and job documentation

Material Handling

  • Identify and select correct materials (plate, pipe, fittings) per job requirements
  • Mark out and cut material with minimal waste
  • Manage material traceability and certification documents

Equipment Operation & Maintenance

  • Operate overhead cranes, hoists, forklifts, and other lifting equipment (with appropriate tickets)
  • Use workshop machinery including press brakes, rolls, ironworkers, and plasma/oxy-fuel cutting equipment
  • Carry out daily pre-start checks and basic maintenance on tools and equipment

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow safe work procedures and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs/SWMS)
  • Work in accordance with site safety rules and WHS legislation
  • Use and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Participate in toolbox talks, hazard identification, and incident reporting
  • Comply with confined space, working at heights, and hot work permit requirements where applicable

Qualification & experience

Preferred candidates will have:

  • Minimum 3+ years' post trade experience in Boilermaking within the construction & shutdown industries.
  • Australian recognised Trade Certificate
  • Working at Heights + Confined Space
  • White Card
  • Valid WA Driver's Licence
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and DAS
