About the role

We are currently seeking a Full-Time Trades Assistant to join our team and report directly to the Workshop Manager.

The successful candidate will assist with the assembly, servicing, maintenance, and repair of pressure cleaning and transfer pump equipment, including units powered by Honda, Kohler, and Yanmar petrol and diesel engines. The role involves supporting workshop technicians with equipment assembly, maintenance tasks, fault finding, equipment refurbishment, and custom-built system assembly within a clean, air-conditioned workshop environment.

This position would suit a practical, hands-on person with mechanical aptitude and workshop experience. Previous experience working with small engines, pumps, mechanical equipment, or machinery would be highly regarded. The successful applicant will be reliable, motivated, able to follow instructions, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.

Skills and experience

The successful candidate will work as part of a team across all workshop operations, including:

  • Assisting with production and service work to meet deadlines.

  • Assembly, installation, and maintenance of pumps, pressure cleaning equipment, electric motor-driven systems, and Honda and Yanmar engine-powered units.

  • Assisting with the servicing, repair, and refurbishment of a wide range of mechanical equipment.

  • Supporting the assembly and commissioning of custom-built systems and trailer-mounted units.

  • Assisting with fault finding and troubleshooting of mechanical and engine-related equipment.

  • Conducting preventative maintenance, cleaning, and quality inspections.

  • Preparing equipment and components for assembly and repair work.

  • Interacting professionally with customers when required.

  • Monitoring and replenishing workshop consumables and maintaining workshop inventory.

  • Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, quality, and workplace safety.

  • Completion of daily timesheets and basic job documentation.

To be considered for this position, applicants should possess:

  • Previous workshop, trades assistant, mechanical, or labouring experience preferred.
    Mechanical aptitude and an interest in working with engines, pumps, and industrial equipment.

  • Experience with small engines, mechanical equipment, or machinery highly regarded.

  • Good hand and power tool skills.

  • Ability to follow instructions and learn new skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

  • Good communication and customer service skills.

  • Self-motivated with a practical, hands-on approach and positive attitude.

  • Forklift licence, fabrication, welding, or mechanical experience highly regarded but not essential.

  • Good written and spoken English.

  • Current driver's licence preferred.
