As a Commissioning Technician at ComAp Australia, you'll bring power generation and energy control systems to life on customer sites - then prove they work.
You'll commission and configure ComAp control systems across diesel and gas gen-sets, hybrid power, battery energy storage (BESS) and microgrids. One week you might be on a remote industrial site running a cutover; the next, reviewing engineered drawings, building test plans and supporting other technicians remotely. This is genuinely end-to-end work: you'll start at the design package and customer meetings, program and test controllers through factory acceptance, then head to site to support installation and fault-find work carried out by other trades, run site acceptance testing, hand over the as-built documentation, and stay on hand for post-project support. You'll be backed by an experienced local team of around fifteen commissioning specialists and ComAp's global engineering network.
It's hands-on, varied and genuinely technical. It also comes with the chance to travel: regular trips, usually around one a month, to sites across Australia and the wider Asia-Pacific - from regional industrial sites to the occasional remote posting further afield. Trips can run from a few days to a couple of weeks on site, with weekends away when the commissioning window calls for it.
Commission and configure ComAp control systems across diesel, gas, hybrid, BESS and microgrid applications.
Work with industrial networks and protocols - the backbone of modern control systems - and build and test PLC-based programs and SCADA interfaces.
Carry out electrical testing, fault diagnosis and problem-solving on site, where a calm, methodical approach pays off.
Review engineered documents and prepare test plans, then execute ITPs and commissioning documentation to a high standard.
Be a trusted technical resource - providing on-site and remote support to customers, distributors and fellow technicians.
Collaborate with project management, sales and engineering teams, and join client and stakeholder meetings to keep delivery on track.
We care more about aptitude and attitude than a long CV. If most of this is you, we'd like to hear from you:
An electrical trade qualification and licence (unrestricted strongly preferred) - or an engineering degree in Electrical, Electronic or Mechatronic disciplines.
Computer literacy and a genuine comfort with networking - you don't shy away from IP addresses, switches and industrial comms.
A strong fault-finding instinct and pride in delivering quality outcomes, working independently on site.
A current driver's licence, Australian work rights, and a willingness to travel - including weekends away when trip window requires it.
An appetite to learn new software and systems - this is a role you grow into.
Don't tick every box below? That's fine. These are advantages, not gatekeepers - we'll back the right person to build them on the job.
Hands-on with ComAp products
Experience with diesel and gas generators (a strong market here in WA)
PLC programming (a basic grounding is plenty)
SCADA configuration and interfaces
Knowledge of power-system components - generators, inverters, BESS, switchgear, transformers
Industrial communications protocols - Modbus, Ethernet
Exposure to renewable and microgrid applications
No two days or jobs are the same - different sites, systems and challenges, across one of the broadest product portfolios in the industry.
Travel to sites across Australia and the Asia-Pacific as part of the job, with all your business tools provided.
A genuine path from technician to senior and lead, plus scope to move across into project management, sales, innovation and emerging service and SCADA-focused teams as we expand.
A supportive, collaborative team and ongoing product and technical training, including access to ComAp's global resources.
Work with market-leading control technology in fast-growing segments - hybrid power, BESS and microgrids.
A competitive remuneration package with bonus incentives, plus laptop, phone and all the tools you need.
Apply with your CV and a short note on the kind of systems you've worked on. We review applications as they come in and would be glad to hear from you - strong candidates from related technical backgrounds are very welcome.
Please note we do not accept unsolicited referrals from agencies or recruiters.
