About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Composite Technician to join our Maintenance team based in Australind, just north of Bunbury in the idyllic South West of WA. This position is offered on a permanent full time basis, working 38hours per week compressed into a 9 day fortnight.  

The Composite Technician is responsible for providing specialist expertise in plastic welding and fibreglass, as well as providing trade support for the maintenance, service and repair of fixed plant and equipment across the TiO2 refinery. Key requirements of the role include fabrication, modification and repair of FRP piping and vessels in accordance with site standards, utilising a range of layup techniques and resin types suited to process conditions.

The successful candidate will be accountable for measuring, fabrication and installation of plastic process pipework such as PVC, Polypropylene, and ABS, as well as the fabrication of sheet components using FRP and other plastics. This role requires strict adherence to site piping specifications and construction procedures, along with an active involvement in daily, weekly and shutdown maintenance tasks.


To be successful in your application, you will ideally possess:

  • A Certificate III in Engineering - Composites Trade (or equivalent discipline) will be highly regarded 

  • Demonstrated experience in plastic welding and fibreglass fabrication, maintenance and repairs

  • Experience in maintaining a complex fixed plant environment in accordance with strict engineering safety and compliance standards (highly desirable)

  • The highest regard for safe work practices with a passion for continuous improvement

  • The ability to work independently and as part of a cohesive, multi-trade maintenance team

  • A strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail

  • Proficient in Maintenance Management Systems (MMS) for recording work orders, maintenance activities, and inspection data

  • Ability to relocate to Bunbury, Western Australia or surrounds (relocation assistance available). This is a residential role and there is no camp on site.
