Perth Modern School is seeking a hardworking and reliable Assistant Gardener – Handyperson to join our team.

The Role
We are seeking applicants who are proactive in their approach to both gardening and general maintenance. To ensure our buildings and grounds are maintained at their current high standard, applicants with strong gardening and handyperson skills are strongly encouraged to apply.
Under the direction of the Senior Gardener - Handyperson, the Assistant Gardener - Handyperson is responsible for maintaining school grounds to ensure a clean, safe, and well-presented environment for students and staff. This includes managing turf areas, garden beds, shrubs, and trees, as well as ensuring a suitable growing environment for soft landscapes such as lawns and gardens. The role also involves maintaining hard landscaping features, including courts and paved areas, and marking sports areas as required.
The Assistant Gardener - Handyperson performs minor repairs and maintenance as requested, in line with departmental policies and guidelines. They are also responsible for identifying and reporting faults as needed to support the upkeep of school grounds and facilities.
All tasks are carried out using safe work practices, adhering to Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) legislation, including the proper handling and management of hazardous substances. The Assistant Gardener/Handyperson should ensure that all duties are completed efficiently and with minimal disruption to students and staff.
