ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a detail-oriented Plant Inspector to join our team. This role is responsible for conducting asset clearance inspections on returned earthmoving equipment and trucks (including excavators, skid-steers, wheel-loaders and attachments).

You will assess equipment condition, determine whether assets are Ready for Rent or Under Repair, and ensure all inspections meet high quality and safety standards. This position plays a critical role in maintaining fleet reliability and delivering an excellent customer experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct plant and attachment clearance inspections on returned hire equipment

  • Operate plant and equipment to verify correct functionality

  • Record inspection findings using the company ERP application (tablet-based)

  • Assess assets as Ready for Rent or Under Repair

  • Carry out minor repairs, fluid top-ups and lubrication as required

  • Apply status tags and capture photographic evidence of equipment condition

  • Communicate inspection findings and failure causes for workshop follow-up

  • Maintain high inspection accuracy and quality standards (target >98% compliance)

  • Maintain yard organisation, cleanliness, and safe work practices

  • Ensure inspection vehicles and equipment remain clean and organised

  • Participate in team toolbox meetings and support changing operational priorities


ABOUT YOU

To succeed in this role, you will be safety-focused, mechanically minded and highly attentive to detail.

You will bring:

  • A strong commitment to workplace safety

  • Forklift license

  • Experience operating or moving plant and equipment

  • Basic mechanical knowledge

  • High attention to detail and accuracy

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Customer-focused

  • Confidence using digital tools or ERP systems (tablet-based inspections)

  •  The successful candidate may be required to undergo a pre-employment medical, drug screen and police check.

  • Please Note: Proquip are building a state or the art facility in Forrestdale and anticipate the role will move to the new location in November 2026.
