Role Highlights
Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the role is responsible for management of Construction Contractor activities in accordance with Fremantle Ports policies, standards and Major Works Contracts. The Works Superintendent and Inspector provides oversight over contracted works delivery. Working as part of the Fremantle Ports project team, the role ensures construction activities comply with approved designs, technical specifications, and industry best practice.
The role encompasses construction contractor performance monitoring and reporting, safety, scope management, variation and quality control, testing, inspection, issuing of Fremantle Port Permits and acceptance of works completed by construction contractors.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Contribute within the Fremantle Ports project team to manage the daily operations of port infrastructure construction projects, ensuring they are completed efficiently, safely, and within the specified timeframe and budget.
Provide advice and assistance to Project Managers, Project Engineers and Construction Contractors on Fremantle Ports requirements with respect to project specific Plans, Procedures, Works Permitting, Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) / Job Safety and Environmental Analysis (JSEA) and other control methods to ensure work is delivered in a safe, cost effective and timely manner.
Monitor ongoing work to ensure compliance with specification and report projects’ progress to the Project Manager, against the established project schedule.
Report works progress, covering cost and quality issues. Undertake final inspection of completed projects.
Promote harmonious and constructive work relationships between the contractors and Fremantle Ports.
Assist within the Fremantle Ports project team in the preparation of scopes of work and specifications for tender and construction purposes including preliminary site inspection and work feasibility assessment.
