Electrical Apprentice – Crane Technician

Location: Welshpool, WA

About the Role

Safe Lifting Australia is seeking a motivated 1st or 2nd Year Electrical Apprentice to join our growing team as a Crane Technician.

This is not a standard electrical role. Working on cranes and lifting equipment combines electrical fault finding with significant mechanical work, giving you the opportunity to develop a unique and highly specialised skillset.

One day you may be troubleshooting electrical control systems or wiring a contactor, and the next you could be stripping down a gearbox or assisting with hoist rebuilds. The work is varied, hands-on and highly rewarding.

You will work alongside experienced technicians on overhead cranes, hoists, lifting systems and industrial equipment across a wide range of industries including mining, manufacturing, ports and oil & gas.

The role also includes site work and occasional travel, giving you exposure to different facilities and equipment across Western Australia.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Assisting with the installation, servicing and repair of cranes and lifting equipment
• Supporting technicians with electrical fault finding, wiring and control systems
• Assisting with mechanical repairs including hoists, gearboxes, brakes and drive systems
• Carrying out inspections and preventative maintenance on cranes and lifting equipment
• Working with the team to ensure equipment remains safe, reliable and compliant
• Maintaining high safety standards on site and in the workshop
• Participating in ongoing technical training and skills development

What We’re Looking For

• Currently undertaking (or willing to start) an Electrical Apprenticeship
• Strong interest in hands-on mechanical and electrical work
• Good problem-solving ability and technical curiosity
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
• Positive attitude and ability to work well within a team
• Willingness to work overtime and travel to sites when required

What We Offer

At Safe Lifting Australia, you’ll join a supportive, skilled team that enjoys working together and taking pride in what we do.

We offer:

• A diverse role combining electrical and mechanical skills
• Exposure to specialised crane and lifting equipment
Overtime opportunities and competitive remuneration
• Ongoing training and career development
• Opportunities to grow within a rapidly expanding company
