 AE Components (formerly Armstrong Energy) is a growing precision manufacturing business specialising in custom electrical and mechanical components for WA’s power generation, mining and heavy industry sectors.

Since 1998 we have expanded our capabilities to include CNC machining, advanced materials and additive manufacturing, supplying specialised components and engineered solutions to major clients including Western Power, Synergy and FMG.

We pride ourselves on maintaining a strong team culture, open communication, and high-quality workmanship, and we are looking for a CNC Machinist to join our team.


The Role

We are seeking a skilled machinist to operate CNC machinery, perform setups, and produce precision components to a high standard.

You will work as part of a supportive workshop team responsible for machining a wide range of engineered components.

Flexible working hours are available, with typical workshop hours starting around 6:00am, however alternative start and finish times can be discussed for the right candidate.


Key Responsibilities

• Reading and interpreting job cards and technical drawings
• Machine setup and operation of CNC lathes and mills
• Producing precision components to required tolerances and quality standards
• Ensuring compliance with QA procedures and documentation
• Identifying opportunities to improve machining efficiency and performance
• Liaising with the Workshop Supervisor if job variations arise
• Maintaining accurate production records
• Ensuring machines, tooling and work areas are clean and maintained
• Supporting the workshop team as required in a small business environment


About You

• Trade qualification such as Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitting/Machining) or similar
• Experience operating CNC machines in a manufacturing environment
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Reliable, punctual and able to work with minimal supervision
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment


Experience with the following machines will be highly regarded

• Haas SL-30 CNC Lathe with Bartec Barfeeder
• Hyundai HiT-30 CNC Lathe with Bartec Barfeeder
• Mitseiki TL-2660 CNC Lathe
• Hartford VMC850 CNC Mill
• Mazak Nexus 450 CNC Lathe
