Are you a strategic thinking leader with the drive to oversee a large transport fleet operation? KTrans is looking for a Head of Fleet and Maintenance to take full ownership of our diverse fleet and workshops to ensure we continue to be leaders in maintenance, compliance and smart vehicle systems.

The ideal candidate will have extensive front-line experience managing a large fleet with multiple workshops and a large workforce for a mid to large-sized transport (or relatable) business. You should possess a proven history of managing a fleet of over 700 assets in a transport or closely related industry. This role calls for a mix of hands-on industry experience through either a trade qualification or years of experience, and a strong people leader who can motivate teams to excel every day.

What you’ll be responsible for:

You will be accountable for ensuring the KTrans transport fleet is safe, compliant, reliable, technically advanced and cost-effective. This role is critical in supporting service delivery through proactive maintenance programs and lifecycle asset strategies. You will champion the KTrans 5 Pillars and drive continuous improvement across all internal and external maintenance sites.

Your Impact:

  • Strategic Ownership: Lead the maintenance, procurement, and fleet technology functions while managing forecasting and actual costs.
  • Operational Excellence: Maximise productivity and efficiency across all sites, ensuring they meet both internal and external compliance standards.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing maintenance teams to deliver Quality mainteance outcomes.
  • Compliance & Safety: have sound knowledge of and maintain 100% compliance with national accreditations such as NHVR, PBS, WAHVA, and NHVAS.
  • Innovation: Take charge of fleet technology, safety systems and reporting systems to ensure they are operating as intended and supported across the business.

About you:

You are a confident, decisive leader who understands the importance of effective leadership to achieve strategic outcomes. You balance safety, compliance, and commercial performance without compromise.

You will bring:

  • 7+ years’ management experience in heavy vehicle fleet management and vehicle maintenance, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Logistics, or Transportation Management (or equivalent experience).
  • Thorough knowledge of transport legislation, CoR, and fatigue management
  • Advanced skills in managing costs in a maintenance environment and controlling fleet budgets.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail to ensure the accuracy of fleet management data.
  • Proven ability to lead large teams and complex operations
