Task & responsibilities

Responsibilities

Maintains, tests and repairs petrol engines and the mechanical parts of lightweight motor vehicles such as transmissions, suspension, steering and brakes.

Duties

•    Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrications, and tune-ups on a variety of vehicle makes including passenger vehicles, SUV’s and light commercial vehicles

•    Examine vehicles and diagnose to determine the extent of repairs, maintenance or service to be performed

•    Test drive vehicles, and test components and systems, using specialised testing equipment

•    Repair, replace, and adjust worn or faulty parts as required

•    Disassemble and reassemble engines, brakes, transmissions or steering gear

•    Follow a checklist to ensure all parts are examined and tested

•    Complete maintenance & repairs to suspension components

Qualification & experience

Qualifications

•    AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training

•    AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3)

Experience

•    At least 3 years of relevant experience
