The Opportunity
We are seeking a reliable and hands-on Water Sampling & Operations Offsider to support the delivery of safe and reliable water services across remote communities in the Ngaanyatjarra Lands.

Working alongside the Water Operations team, you will assist with water sampling, operational monitoring, meter readings, data collection, and supporting the day-to-day operation of critical water infrastructure that services remote communities. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys field-based work, regular travel, and contributing to essential services that directly impact community wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct monthly water sampling and assist with water quality testing across remote communities.

  • Ensure water samples are handled, transported, and stored correctly to maintain compliance standards.

  • Carry out regular meter readings and collect operational data across community sites.

  • Assist with monitoring water treatment systems, including chemical dosing and plant operations.

  • Record and maintain accurate operational data, reports, and compliance documentation.

  • Support the Water Team in maintaining safe, reliable, and compliant water services.

  • Follow all workplace health and safety procedures, including fatigue management while travelling.

  • Travel regularly to remote communities as part of the monthly DIDO schedule.

About You
You are practical, safety-conscious, and enjoy hands-on work in remote environments. You are comfortable working independently, have strong attention to detail, and are motivated by contributing to essential services that support remote communities.

  • Current unrestricted C Class Driver’s Licence (manual).

  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly to remote communities from Perth.

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to collect, record, and report accurate data.

  • Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office and data entry systems.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and within a team.

  • Physically fit and capable of undertaking outdoor field-based work in remote conditions.

  • Commitment to workplace safety and following operational procedures.

  • Ability to work respectfully in culturally diverse and remote community environments.

Desirable

  • Experience in water sampling, utilities, maintenance, or essential services.

  • Understanding of water treatment systems and drinking water quality standards.

  • Experience working in remote communities or remote operational environments.

  • Current First Aid Certificate.

  • 4WD driving experience and relevant industry tickets such as forklift, confined space, or working at heights.

  • Experience working with Aboriginal communities or understanding of Aboriginal culture.

The Ngaanyatjarra Lands are managed by the Ngaanyatjarra Council Group, a wholly community-led entity representing the interests of Traditional Owners (Yarnangu) who reside across 11 communities in central and Goldfields WA. Each community is autonomous and separately incorporated.

Established in 1981, the Ngaanyatjarra Council Group (NCG) employs over 450 people and provides a wide range of services including health, utilities, construction, employment, community development, retail, art centres, and land management. We are one of Australia’s largest and most successful Indigenous organisations.
