THE ROLE We now have an opportunity for an Operations Manager - West to join the business in our head office in Osborne Park. The primary focus will be the day-to-day management across all aspects of our infrastructure projects across the West Coast. You will be tasked with providing visible leadership and driving development and implementation of best practice and strategic initiatives. In addition, the Operations Manager will be pivotal in building high performance teams as well as drive operational excellence and business profitability. About The Role Identify new business leads and providing practical input into tenders and pricing reviews to win projects.Drive a high-performance safety culture, ensuring all project personnel understand & comply with project HSE policies, management plans, objectives & KPIsTake a lead role in establishing and maintaining key client relationshipsDrive and oversee successful development and execution of Whittens projects from award delivery to completionEnsure understanding of the relevant contracts for each project including effective allocation of people, plant & equipmentOversee projects to ensure successful delivery and continuous improvement, including reviewing/monitoring budgets, schedules and progress, company lessons learntUndertake frequent visits to inspect site works, provide ‘in-field’ staff coaching and mentoring and ensure workforce/leadership alignment with Whittens’ values and cultureCollaborate with and support Project Managers to ensure pro-active management of scope changes, early identification of potential issues and devising of contingency plansClosely monitor individual project performance, ensuring delivery within budget, with profit margins secured and with strict contract compliance ABOUT YOU: Tertiary Qualifications in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or similar - PreferredAt least 10 years+ Project Management experience with civil projects including Earthworks, Concrete, FRP ranging from $10-$60MExperience working for a Civil Contractor managing a self-perform direct workforce as well as managing subcontractorsSuperior time and priority management skillsConfidence in managing a range of different relationships throughout the business and on siteStrong Commercial AcumenVisible leadershipAdaptability to travel to site when required WHAT WE OFFER: Skills Whittens are committed to investing in our people and rewarding the skills and experience you bring.
