Material Inspection • Verify that all pipes, fittings, flanges, valves, and gaskets meet the approved material specifications and codes (e.g., ASME, ASTM). • Check Mill Test Certificates (MTCs) and ensure traceability of materials. • Confirm correct material storage and handling. 2. Fit-Up and Welding Inspection • Check fit-up, alignment, and joint preparation before welding. • Verify welding procedure specifications (WPS) and ensure welders are qualified as per approved PQR/WPQ. • Monitor welding parameters (amperage, voltage, preheat, interpass temperature). • Conduct visual inspection of welds for defects (cracks, undercut, porosity, etc.). 3. NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) Coordination • Ensure required NDT methods (RT, UT, MT, PT) are performed as per project requirements. • Review and interpret NDT reports and ensure repairs are carried out for rejected welds. 4. Hydrostatic and Pneumatic Testing • Witness pressure tests (hydro/pneumatic) as per approved test packs and procedures. • Check test pressure, holding time, gauge calibration, and ensure safety during testing. • Verify test records and ensure acceptance criteria are met. 5. Dimensional and Visual Inspection • Verify piping dimensions, supports, and routing as per isometric drawings and P&IDs. • Ensure proper slope, orientation, and spacing of supports and hangers. • Check final visual appearance and ensure line cleanliness before system handover. 6. Documentation and Reports • Maintain inspection reports, test records, material traceability logs, and weld maps. • Prepare and update inspection checklists and ITRs (Inspection Test Records). • Assist in preparing final QC Dossiers for project turnover. 7. Code and Standard Compliance • Ensure all work conforms to relevant codes such as: • ASME B31.1 / B31.3 (for piping) • ASME Section IX (for welding) • Project specifications and client requirements 8. Coordination and Communication • Coordinate with construction, engineering, and QA/QC departments for inspection activities. • Report non-conformances (NCRs) and follow up on corrective actions. • Attend client and third-party inspections as required. 9. Safety and Quality Assurance • Ensure all inspection activities comply with HSE requirements. • Promote quality awareness among site personnel. Typical Deliverables • Material inspection reports • Fit-up & weld inspection reports • NDT reports and summary logs • Pressure test reports • Line check reports • As-built drawings verification • QC Dossier / Final Handover Package
