Truck Driver

The Truck Driver will be responsible for operating heavy vehicles to transport sand, grain, and local freight safely and efficiently while ensuring compliance with transport legislation, company policies, and customer requirements. Task & responsibilities

• Operate heavy vehicles to transport sand, grain, and general freight safely and efficiently.
• Conduct pre-start, daily, and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness.
• Load, unload, and secure cargo in accordance with safe load restraint requirements.
• Transport goods according to delivery schedules and customer requirements.
• Complete delivery documentation, logbooks, consignment notes, and transport records accurately.
• Monitor vehicle condition and promptly report mechanical faults or maintenance requirements.
• Ensure compliance with Heavy Vehicle National Law (where applicable), road transport regulations, and company policies.
• Follow fatigue management requirements and safe driving practices.
• Maintain cleanliness and presentation of vehicles and trailers.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch personnel, customers, and supervisors regarding deliveries and operational matters.
• Assist with route planning to maximise efficiency and minimise delays.
• Comply with workplace health and safety procedures and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations.
• Ensure freight is delivered safely, securely, and without damage.
• Provide professional and courteous customer service during pickups and deliveries.

Qualification & experience

Essential

• Valid Australian Heavy Vehicle Driver Licence appropriate for the vehicles operated (HR, HC, or MC Licence preferred).
• Minimum 1-3 year of relevant truck driving experience in freight transport, grain haulage, tipper operations, or general logistics.
• Demonstrated ability to safely operate heavy vehicles under varying road and weather conditions.
• Knowledge of heavy vehicle safety regulations, load restraint requirements, and fatigue management.
• Ability to maintain accurate transport documentation and records.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.

Desirable

• Experience operating tipper trucks for sand or bulk material transport.
• Experience transporting grain or agricultural products.
• Forklift licence (advantageous).
• Knowledge of Western Australian transport routes.
• Understanding of Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations and transport compliance requirements.
• Basic mechanical knowledge for routine vehicle inspections.
