Quality Assurance Officer (HSEQ)

About Alight Contractors

Alight Contractors Pty Ltd is a privately owned company with over 30 years of experience in the electrical and building industry. We are recognised as a leading electrical contractor for the Australian modular building sector, providing comprehensive end-to-end services — from design and rough-in through to testing, commissioning and final certification.

Our expertise is proven through our work with world-leading modular manufacturers, delivering complex installations destined for Tier 1 mining and resource sites nationwide. We have built specialist capabilities across electrical engineering, dry fire, data and communications — a multi-trade environment where quality and safety are non-negotiable.

The Opportunity

This is primarily a quality assurance role with integrated HSEQ responsibilities. Quality inspections are at the core of what you will do day to day: verifying electrical, data and dryfire installations against ITPs, Australian Standards and client requirements, raising NCRs, and driving corrective actions through to verified close-out.

Alongside the quality function, you will take practical ownership of safety and compliance on site — conducting audits, delivering toolbox talks, managing hazard identification and supporting incident investigations. Reporting directly to management, you will have a high-visibility role where your work drives real outcomes.

Your Responsibilities

Quality Assurance:

  • Conduct quality inspections of electrical, data and dryfire installations in line with company procedures and project-specific ITPs

  • Identify non-conformances, raise NCARs and drive corrective actions through to verified close-out

  • Perform root cause analysis on quality failures and monitor preventive measures

  • Maintain detailed inspection records to ensure traceability and audit-readiness

  • Compile regular QA reports including real-time alerts on non-conformances

  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities

Health, Safety & Environment:

  • Execute integrated site HSEQ audits, hazard identification and safety interactions

  • Develop and review site-specific SWMS for all task types

  • Deliver toolbox talks across all trades

  • Investigate incidents and near misses

  • Facilitate site inductions and Verification of Competency (VOC) assessments

  • Maintain IMS registers and equipment compliance records

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Demonstrated QA experience in construction or manufacturing

  • Confident communicator — comfortable presenting to crews and writing formal reports

  • Strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills

  • Current open driver's licence

  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage priorities and work independently

Desirable:

  • Electrical or trades industry background

  • Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety

  • Familiarity with relevant Australian Standards

  • Experience with ISO 9001, 45001 or 14001 management systems

What's In It For You

  • $80,000 – $120,000 + super, commensurate with experience

  • Permanent full-time role from day one

  • Direct reporting line to management

  • Genuine opportunity to shape how quality and safety is run at a growing business

Pay: $80,000.00 – $120,000.00 per year
