Junior Criminal Lawyer

Junior Criminal Lawyer: Full time position for restricted practitioner, or graduate near admission who has some criminal law related work experience.

An opportunity for a junior lawyer committed to a career in criminal defence to represent clients in Magistrates and superior courts in Perth and throughout Western Australia, progressing to bail applications, sentencing and trial work, to support counsel in superior court trials and appeals, to conduct legal research and prepare letters of advice, contribute to developing defence strategy and to do share of file and practice management tasks.

Selection criteria:

· Commitment to a career in criminal defence

· Admission to Supreme Court of Western Australia (or near admission)

· Exposure to advocacy and client management

· Demonstrable legal research skills

· Attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines and work independently

· Sound communication and IT skills

Salary by way of negotiation but including bonus structure and flexible work hours
