Kelmscott Physiotherapy is seeking a full-time Physiotherapist to deliver evidence-based assessment and treatment for musculoskeletal injuries and physical conditions in a private practice setting. The role involves managing a varied outpatient caseload including Workers Compensation, Chronic Disease Management, Motor Vehicle Accident and private patients, developing and supervising rehabilitation programmes (gym-based and hydrotherapy), conducting functional capacity evaluations, and preparing clinical reports for referrers and insurers. The successful candidate will communicate regularly with medical practitioners, insurers and other stakeholders while contributing to a collaborative team environment and maintaining high standards of patient care.

Task & responsibilities

  • Clinical assessment and treatment of outpatient clients from the following categories:
    • Workers Compensation
    • Chronic Disease Management
    • Motor Vehicle Accidents
    • Private
    • Department of Veterans Affairs
  • Conducting Functional Capacity Evaluations
  • Prescribing and supervising on-site and off site gym based rehabilitation programmes
  • Prescribing and supervising hydrotherapy rehabilitation programmes
  • Producing timely and accurate letters and medical reports for:
    • GP’s
    • Occupational Physicians
    • Other referrers
    • Insurance companies and Claims department
  • Applying for, clinically reasoning and justifying treatment plans of compensable patients to insurance companies, both verbally and in written format
  • Frequent telephone communication with doctors, insurance companies and other colleagues
  • Making and answering phone calls in a professional and courteous manner
  • Word processing including letters, reports and other documents as required
  • Checking and answering emails
  • Liaising with staff at other physiotherapy practices, medical clinics, hospitals and other institutions as required
  • Contribute to the basic cleanliness of the practice. This will include:
    • Checking and emptying of treatment room bin, ensuring a tidy room and orderly consumables trolley

Qualification & experience

  • Bachelor of Physiotherapy or International Equivalent
  • Must have AHPRA Full or Limited Registration. Under limited registration the Physiotherapist can be supervised under a Fully registered Physiotherapist.
  • Ability to apply a broad base and depth of knowledge in biological, psychological, social and other sciences to identify and demonstrate knowledge adaptability to manage the breadth of client presentations in private practice Physiotherapy
  • Minimum 1 year experience as a Physiotherapist is essential, more than 2 years experience is desirable
