Watmar Engineering is a Fluid System Engineering Specialist servicing the Defence, Marine, and Resources sectors.  The business is headquartered in Naval Base, Western Australia, and delivers projects and services both locally and nationally across a range of client sites and operational environments.  Its primary business activities include Mechanical and Electrical maintenance and repair services, specialist equipment and componentry sales, and equipment and systems manufacturing.

About the Role

You will be joining a local team servicing a diverse range of Defence, Marine, and Resources sector projects.  These positions will suit individuals who enjoy dynamic workplaces and work environment, want to be part of a high-performance team, are motivated for excellence, and keen to continuously improve and learn as part of delivering value-adding solutions to clients.

Key Duties

  • Maintenance and repair of mechanical, fluid systems, and fluid power equipment in accordance with procedures and QC standards

  • Test equipment under supervision, as well as recording and reporting test data

  • Troubleshooting and fault finding of equipment and systems

  • Identify, notify, and resolve operational and/or technical problems to minimise progress interruptions or equipment breakdowns

  • Provide feedback and report feedback to Supervisor on progress of tasks, work completed, and work delayed

  • Study drawings and specifications to determine the suitable material, method, sequence of operations and machine settings

  • Fitting fabricated metal parts into a variety of products as well as assembling metal parts and subassemblies to produce machines and equipment

  • Check fabricated and assembled parts for accuracy, clearance and fit using precision measuring instruments

  • Setting guides, stops and other controls on machining equipment

  • Setting up prescribed cutting and shaping tools in machines and presses

  • Cutting, threading, bending, and installing, fluid, hydraulic and pneumatic pipes and lines

  • Ensure that all tools and equipment are maintained and stored in a safe and clean condition

  • Demonstrates leadership by providing guidance, mentoring, and support to apprentices and trade assistants, promoting safe work practices, quality workmanship, professional development, and positive team behaviours

Experience / Qualifications

  • Drivers Licence

  • National Police Clearance

  • Australian Recognised Trade Qualification

  • White Card

  • The ability to undergo pre-employment medical

  • High Risk Work Licence (dogging, rigging, forklift)

  • Confined Space Entry

  • Working at Heights

  • Marine and industrial fluid system experience

  • Defence industry experience preferred

  • Willingness to work overtime when required
