Due to growth in our organisation we are now looking to expand our team with a new site based (8:6 roster) Electrical Supervisor position. This role will fly in and out from Perth to the Gascoyne region and play an instrumental role in leading the safe, reliable and compliant operation and maintenance of the site power plant.

The Role:

  • Oversee electrical work, personnel competency, permits, safe systems of work and compliance records in a Schedule 26 capacity.

  • Ensure compliance with WHS Act 2020, WHS (Mines) Regulations 2022, WA Electrical Requirements (WAER), Electricity (Licensing) Regulations 1991, and applicable Australian Standards.

  • Govern hazardous area electrical systems for gas infrastructure, including area classification, equipment selection, inspection and maintenance.

  • Provide technical leadership for power generation assets including gas engines, diesel generators, switchgear, protection systems, synchronization and site distribution tie-ins.

  • Develop and implement HV/LV operating procedures, switching instructions, permit-to-work systems, isolation standards, and energised-work controls.

  • Lead operational performance and reliability initiatives including monitoring availability, forced outages, heat rate, maintenance compliance and spares coverage.

  • Conduct root-cause investigations into plant trips, failures, and incidents, implementing corrective actions, improvement programs and defect elimination strategies.

  • Manage critical spares and maintenance strategies for engines, alternators, protection relays, HV breakers, governors/ECMs, UPS systems and black-start equipment.

  • Support the delivery of brownfield power projects including capacity expansions, fuel system upgrades, switch room replacements, protection upgrades and controls migrations.

  • Supervise and mentor electricians, HV operators, and contractors, coordinating rosters, handovers, inductions, competency development, statutory logbooks and training requirements.

Requirements:

  • Unrestricted WA Electrician’s License.

  • Eligibility for appointment as Electrical Supervisor (Schedule 26) – incl. approved WHS risk‑management unit and minimum 2 years electrical work experience in mining/heavy industry.

  • LVR/CPR (annual refreshers) and Senior First Aid.

  • 2 + years previous experience leading and managing people.

  • Exceptional safety-first attitude.

Highly Regarded:

  • G1, G8, G9 supervisor units (RIIRIS301E, RIIWHS301E, RIICOM301E) and/or WA Schedule 26 law exam and approved WHS risk‑management unit(s).

  • Hazardous Areas (EEHA) competency and HA inspection experience.

  • Experience with AS/NZS 3010 generator installations, AS 2067 substation design/earthing, AS/NZS 61439 switchboards, and AS/NZS 3760 test & tag programmes.

  • CMMS proficiency (SAP/Pronto), vibration analysis, reliability methodologies (RCM, FMEA).

  • High Voltage (HV) Switching competence.
