BEC-IWP is the Western Australian business of Bajwa EnviroConsult, a specialist environmental consulting company originally established in Victoria.

BEC-IWP operates as a joint venture between Bajwa EnviroConsult and IW Projects, trading as BEC WA Pty Ltd. The business brings together Bajwa EnviroConsult’s environmental consulting, landfill, compliance and approvals experience with IW Projects’ long-standing presence in the Western Australian waste management sector.

IW Projects has been operating in the waste management consulting space for approximately 20 years, with experience supporting waste operators, local governments and private industry across a broad range of waste infrastructure, approvals and operational projects.

Together, BEC-IWP provides specialist environmental engineering, landfill, waste management, and regulatory consulting services across Western Australia and nationally.

We work closely with our clients to support the planning, approval, design, construction, and compliance of waste infrastructure projects.

Our work is primarily focused on the waste sector, with a strong emphasis on landfill engineering, environmental approvals, licence amendments, clearing permits, construction quality assurance, technical assessments, site investigations and reporting.

We assist clients with a broad range of projects, including landfill cell development, cell closure and capping, leachate management, stormwater management, landfill gas assessments, environmental monitoring, construction quality assurance, regulatory approvals, and compliance documentation.

This is supported by our practical consulting approach, which allows us to provide end-to-end environmental and engineering support from early project planning and approvals through to construction, verification and operational compliance.

Your opportunity

We are seeking an Environmental Consultant / Environmental Engineer to join our Perth-based team.

This role is suited to a junior to intermediate level engineer with between two to four years of relevant professional experience. Candidates with around two years of experience are also encouraged to apply.

The ideal candidate will have a background in civil engineering, environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, landfill, tailings, bulk earthworks, waste management or related infrastructure projects.

You will support the delivery of environmental engineering, landfill, waste management and regulatory consulting projects. The role will include a mix of office-based technical work, site investigations, site visits, environmental monitoring, construction inspections, reporting, regulatory documentation and project delivery support.

You will work closely with senior staff and project managers and will be encouraged to develop specialist consulting skills in landfill and waste infrastructure projects.

The role is based in Perth, with the office located in Balcatta. Travel to project sites across Western Australia and occasionally interstate will be required. Regional travel may be required for several days at a time, depending on project requirements. The role is consulting-based and is not a FIFO roster.

Key aspects of this role include:

• Preparing technical reports, assessments, design documentation and regulatory submissions.
• Supporting landfill and waste management projects, including approvals, design, construction and compliance works.
• Undertaking site investigations, inspections, monitoring and construction quality assurance activities.
• Reviewing and interpreting field data, laboratory results, drawings, specifications and construction records.
• Assisting with engineering assessments, modelling and technical documentation.
• Liaising with clients, contractors, regulators, laboratories and internal project teams.
• Supporting project delivery, scheduling, quality assurance, client communication and project record keeping.

About you

We are looking for someone who is technically minded, practical, curious, and willing to learn.

You will ideally have:

• A Bachelor's Degree or higher in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Between two and four years of relevant professional experience.
• Experience in engineering consulting, civil engineering, environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, tailings, landfill, waste management or related infrastructure projects.
• Confidence in preparing or contributing to technical reports.
• The ability to interpret technical information, field results, laboratory data, drawings and specifications.
• Experience working with or reviewing engineering drawings, technical specifications, construction documentation or CQA documentation.
• Experience with site inspections, fieldwork, construction supervision or environmental monitoring.
• A current Australian or International driver’s licence.
• A White Card, or willingness to obtain one.
• The right to work in Australia.

Experience in any of the following areas would be highly regarded:

• Landfill design, landfill construction, cell capping, lining works, leachate management, stormwater infrastructure or waste facility approvals.
• Bulk earthworks, embankments, containment systems, ponds, dams, tailings storage facilities or similar civil infrastructure.
• CQA plans, inspection and test plans, technical specifications, construction records or as-built documentation.
• CAD, slope stability modelling, HELP modelling, seepage modelling, GIS or other engineering modelling software.
• Western Australian environmental approvals, DWER licence amendments, works approvals, clearing permits or environmental compliance documentation.

You will also bring:
