Karara Mining Limited (KML) is an Ansteel Group company formed as a joint venture with Gindalbie Metals Limited. Ansteel is one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.

The opportunity

We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Planner/Scheduler, responsible for maintaining the preventative and predictive mechanical maintenance strategy including; effectively planning and scheduling work to provide optimum equipment reliability.

This role operates on an 8 days on, and 6 days off continuous day shift roster.

To be successful in this role the following is essential:

  • Mechanical Trade qualification and/or proven maintenance experience
  • WA "C" Class driver's licence
  • Experience working with processing plants, mining processing equipment and modular outages in a maintenance capacity
  • Strong experience developing Gantt charts in MS Project
  • Ability to work autonomously and cohesively as part of a cross functional team
  • Understanding of maintenance management principles and work management systems
  • Proven experience interpreting and understanding technical drawings
  • Experience undertaking technical reviews and investigations
  • Proficient in the use of computer systems including Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and the Microsoft Office Suite
  • A current National Police clearance

Key Duties:

  • Assist in planning and scheduling preventative and corrective maintenance activities
  • Follow established processes and procedures outlined in the KML Work Management System
  • Provide expert technical guidance on electrical maintenance standards for daily tasks and projects
  • Contribute to the development of strategies for electrical maintenance operations
  • Support initiatives aimed at improving equipment performance and maintenance procedures or systems
  • Proactively monitor, track, communicate, and report on objectives, issues, opportunities, risks, technical deviations, and achievements within the area of responsibility
  • Coordinate timely mitigation strategy proposals with relevant stakeholders as needed
  • Report on maintenance KPIs to identify opportunities for improvement within planning and maintenance teams
  • Maintain accurate equipment operating data in the CMMS to support reliable maintenance forecasting
