We currently have an opportunity for a full-time Mechanical Fitter to join our growing business in Jandakot, working morning shift Monday through Friday 5:00am until 1:00pm
About the Role
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will play a crucial role in our fast-paced food manufacturing environment. You will be responsible for undertaking planned preventative and reactive breakdown maintenance, whilst ensuring established health and safety procedures are continually followed
Your duties include
Equipment Installation & Maintenance
· Installing, assembling, and aligning mechanical components of food processing machinery.
· Performing preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and ensure equipment efficiency.
· Diagnosing and repairing faults in mechanical systems, conveyors, pumps, motors, and gear systems.
· Lubricating and replacing worn-out parts like bearings, seals, and belts.
Safety & Compliance
· Ensuring all mechanical work adheres to food industry hygiene and safety standards (e.g., HACCP, GMP).
· Following health and safety regulations to prevent contamination and accidents.
· Conducting risk assessments and reporting safety concerns.
Troubleshooting & Repairs
· Identifying and fixing breakdowns quickly to minimise production losses.
· Using tools like welding, grinding, and drilling for modifications and repairs.
· Working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Documentation & Reporting
· Keeping maintenance records and service logs for all machinery.
· Reporting equipment performance issues to supervisors or engineers.
Collaboration & Support
· Assisting production teams with machine-related issues.
· Working alongside electricians, engineers, and operators to optimise machinery performance.
· Training operators on basic equipment handling and maintenance.
To be considered for this role
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years’ experience with process plant maintenance.
Key requirements include:
· Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team to accomplish shared objectives
· Proactive, enthusiastic, and dedicated with a strong work ethic
· Mechanical Fitter Trade certification or equivalent qualifications
· In-depth understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
· Skilled in repairing, upgrading, and modifying machinery while adhering to HACCP and GMP standards
· Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis (RCA) skills with a focus on "right first time" outcomes
· Capable of reading and interpreting schematic diagrams and machinery manuals
· Excellent communication skills for interacting with cross-functional teams and documenting work order reports
· Familiarity with basic electrical systems and components is a plus
· Welding, turning, and sheet metal fabrication skills and qualifications are highly valued
