About the role
Amity WA is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team in Leederville, WA. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in our mission to provide quality care and support to individuals within our community. As a Support Worker, you will be at the heart of what we do, making a meaningful difference in the lives of the people we serve. Key responsibilities
Provide personal care and support to service users, assisting with activities of daily living including hygiene, grooming, and dressing
Support individuals with mobility and transportation to appointments, social activities, and community events
Prepare and serve meals, taking into account dietary requirements and preferences
Assist with household tasks and maintain a safe, clean living environment
Provide emotional support and companionship to service users, building positive and trusting relationships
Monitor and report on the health, wellbeing and safety of individuals in our care
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of support provided and any concerns observed
Collaborate with the wider support team, including management and healthcare professionals, to ensure coordinated and person-centred care
Respect and uphold the dignity, privacy and rights of all service users
Respond sensitively to the individual needs and preferences of those supported
What we're looking for
Previous experience in aged care, disability support, community services, or a related caregiving role is highly desirable
Minimum of 1 year experience in a relevant support worker or caregiving role is required
A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals within the community
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people
Physical fitness and capability to perform manual tasks and provide hands-on support
Reliability, punctuality and a strong work ethic with a commitment to providing consistent, high-quality care
The ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a flexible manner
Patience, empathy and emotional resilience when working with individuals who may be experiencing difficulties
Sound organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
A valid First Aid certificate or willingness to obtain one
A current Working with Children Check (or equivalent background clearance) or willingness to obtain one
A positive attitude towards training and professional development
Kindly note High Care Experience will be preffered
Certificate IV qualification in a relevant field such as Community Services, Disability, or Aged Care is required
