Role Overview

As a Fire Protection Equipment Technician, you will be responsible for the inspection, testing, servicing, maintenance and rectification of a wide range of fire protection equipment across commercial and industrial sites.

You will work both independently and within a supportive team environment to deliver compliant and high-quality fire safety outcomes while maintaining a strong focus on customer service and workplace safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, test and maintain portable fire protection equipment in accordance with relevant Australian Standards 
  • Service and maintain fire extinguishers, fire hose reels, hydrants, fire blankets and exit emergency lighting systems 
  • Conduct testing and maintenance of fire and smoke doors, passive fire and smoke containment systems and gaseous suppression systems 
  • Carry out fault identification, minor repairs and rectification works on fire protection equipment 
  • Complete digital service reports, compliance records and maintenance documentation accurately 
  • Liaise professionally with clients, site managers and internal teams regarding maintenance schedules and compliance requirements 
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with WHS requirements and company procedures 
  • Participate in scheduled maintenance programs and occasional after-hours callouts where required 

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in fire protection equipment servicing and maintenance 
  • Strong knowledge of relevant Australian Standards relating to passive and portable fire protection systems 
  • Experience working across commercial and industrial environments 
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage service schedules efficiently 
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on compliance and safety 
  • Current White Card 
  • Valid Australian driver’s licence 
  • Good communication and client service skills 
  • Competent in using digital reporting systems and mobile service applications 

Desirable Experience

  • Certificate II or III in Fire Protection Inspection and Testing or related qualification 
  • Experience servicing gaseous suppression systems and passive fire systems 
  • Knowledge of emergency and evacuation compliance requirements 
  • Experience working with healthcare, education, commercial or industrial facilities
