Construction Manager – Major Water Infrastructure Project

Contract role - 9 months+

Lead the Delivery of Critical Infrastructure with Carey Group

We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead the delivery of a significant Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) Infrastructure Project, overseeing multidisciplinary construction activities from mobilisation through to commissioning.

This is a unique opportunity to play a key leadership role on a project that will provide essential water infrastructure while contributing to the long-term development of the region.

About the Project

The project involves the construction and commissioning of a Temporary SWRO Facility and associated infrastructure, including:

  • Civil and structural works

  • Buildings and containerised facilities

  • Mechanical and piping installations

  • Electrical infrastructure and power distribution

  • Control systems and instrumentation

  • Process equipment installation and commissioning

  • Integration with future permanent SWRO infrastructure

About the Role

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient and successful execution of all construction activities across the project.

You will lead site teams, subcontractors and project stakeholders to ensure the project is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and management of site construction activities.

  • Develop and execute construction strategies, methodologies and work plans.

  • Manage multidisciplinary work packages including civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation scopes.

  • Lead and mentor project teams, supervisors and subcontractors.

  • Drive a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all statutory and company requirements.

  • Monitor project progress, productivity, costs and resource requirements.

  • Manage project risks and implement mitigation strategies.

  • Ensure quality assurance and construction compliance requirements are achieved.

  • Coordinate commissioning and handover activities with project stakeholders.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors.

  • Provide regular reporting to senior management on project performance.

About You

You are a proven construction leader with extensive experience delivering major infrastructure, resources or industrial projects.

Essential Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience as a Construction Manager on large-scale civil, mining, infrastructure or industrial projects.

  • Strong understanding of multidisciplinary construction including civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical and commissioning activities.

  • Proven ability to manage large workforces and subcontractor teams.

  • Exceptional leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Strong commercial and contractual awareness.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced project environment.

  • Commitment to safety leadership and operational excellence.

Highly Regarded

  • Experience delivering water treatment, processing plant, desalination or utilities infrastructure projects.

  • Water Corporation Experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
