Help Shape and Maintain Our City's Beautiful Parks and Open Spaces
Do you enjoy working outdoors, staying active, and taking pride in creating attractive, safe, and well-maintained public spaces?  The City of Wanneroo is looking for a motivated and reliable Parks Maintenance General Hands to join our dedicated Assets Maintenance team.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the presentation and upkeep of the City's parks, reserves, and community infrastructure while working alongside a supportive and experienced team.

About the Role
As a Parks Maintenance General Hand, you'll play an important role in maintaining the City's parks, gardens, reserves, and associated infrastructure to a high standard. Every day will be different, offering a variety of hands-on tasks and opportunities to develop your skills.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining parks, reserves, streetscapes, and infrastructure assets across the City
  • Safely operating and maintaining plant, tools, and equipment
  • Completing work orders, timesheets, and other required documentation
  • Assisting with the onboarding and support of new team members and contractors
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues, contractors, and members of the public
  • Following work programs and instructions from Supervisors and Leading Hands
  • Participating in training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and career progression
  • Adhering to all workplace health, safety, and environmental requirements
  • Contributing to a positive, safe, and productive team culture

About You
You are a proactive team player who enjoys physical outdoor work and takes pride in delivering quality outcomes. You are adaptable, safety-focused, and thrive in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Experience or knowledge in horticulture, parks maintenance, landscaping, or a related field
  • The ability to organise, prioritise, and manage daily work activities effectively
  • Sound literacy and numeracy skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A commitment to teamwork and customer service
  • The physical capability to undertake manual outdoor work in varying conditions
  • A current C Class Driver's Licence (MR Licence highly regarded)
  • A positive attitude, flexibility, and willingness to support different operational areas when required
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices, including hazard identification and risk management in parks and reserves
  • Experience using technology and information systems to support work activities
  • A current White Card (Construction Induction Card)
