This newly created role supports the College’s strategic and operational objectives by ensuring a safe, compliant, and ethically sound environment for students, staff, and the broader school community.   

This role is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating student-related and community-related risks across all areas of school operations, and for ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and standards. Through proactive risk management, policy development, and stakeholder engagement, the Risk and Compliance Manager fosters a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.  

The Risk and Compliance Manager is responsible for various aspects of the College’s suite of policies and procedures and will also be required to provide risk management updates to the Risk and Governance committee and College leadership.    

Key Responsibilities  

  • Lead compliance with key legislation including child safety, privacy and reportable conduct. 
  • Oversee and strengthen the College’s risk management framework and systems (e.g. RAMS). 
  • Provide expert risk advice across school operations, including excursions, sport and boarding. 
  • Manage incidents and investigations, including regulatory reporting requirements. 
  • Build a proactive risk culture through training, communication and governance reporting. 

Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate: 

  • Relevant experience in a similar role, demonstrating a strong track record in risk management and compliance functions. 
  • Comprehensive understanding of risk management frameworks and processes, including experience in drafting and reviewing documentation, records management and relevant systems. 
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, with the confidence to advise and cultivate positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Demonstrated ability to provide advice and assistance across a range of policies and procedures. 
  • Outstanding writing, presentation and organisational skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. 
  • Strong initiative, showcasing the ability to identify and apply a solution orientated approach to problem-solving. 
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail. 

Desirable 

  • Experience in an education setting or other complex, highly regulated organisation.
