Financial Accountant

About the Role

We are seeking a technically strong Financial Accountant to join the finance function supporting three ASX-listed junior exploration companies. Reporting directly to the CFO and based in West Perth, this is a hands-on role that spans financial reporting, compliance, accounts administration, and coordination with external service providers.

Full-time (with a Part-time option) is the preferred structure. The role carries genuine scope for progression — including a pathway to a Financial Controller position as the group grows. In addition to core accounting responsibilities, the successful candidate will work alongside the Company Secretary and gain exposure to listed-company governance, ASX obligations, and corporate secretarial functions — a valuable opportunity for those looking to broaden their skill set beyond the traditional finance remit.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting

–    Preparation of half-year and annual financial statements in accordance with AASB/IFRS requirements across three listed entities

–    Management of the external audit process — including audit file preparation, auditor liaison, and timely resolution of queries

–    Preparation of accounts to trial balance and management of month-end close procedures

–    Maintenance of the general ledger and chart of accounts across all entities in Xero

–    Preparation of board-level financial reporting packs for CFO review

ASX & Regulatory Compliance

–    Preparation and coordination of ASX Appendix 5B quarterly cash flow reports

–    Maintenance of compliance calendars and statutory lodgement schedules across all entities

–    Support for ASIC annual returns and other corporate regulatory obligations

–    Assistance with ASX continuous disclosure obligations as directed by the CFO and Company Secretary

Tax & External Service Providers

–    Coordination with external tax agents for BAS/IAS lodgements, income tax return preparation, and related correspondence

–    Preparation of supporting workpapers and schedules to facilitate tax compliance obligations

Accounts Payable & Treasury

–    Processing and timely payment of supplier invoices across all entities

–    Maintenance of accounts payable ledgers, supplier records, and payment runs

–    Bank reconciliations and cash position management

–    Management of expense approvals in accordance with delegated authority frameworks

Company Secretarial Support

–    Working closely alongside the Company Secretary to develop exposure to listed-company governance and ASX compliance

–    Assistance with board meeting administration including preparation of financial materials for board packs

–    Support for shareholder and registry-related matters as required

About You

You Must Have

–    CA or CPA qualified (mandatory — applications without will not be considered)

–    Minimum 5 years' experience in financial report preparation, including statutory financial statements for ASX listed entities.

–    Prior experience at a Big 4 or mid-tier accounting firm

–    Demonstrated experience with ASX-listed entities or a solid understanding of listed-company financial reporting obligations

You Will Stand Out If You Have

–    Experience managing the financial reporting function across multiple entities simultaneously

–    Familiarity with AASB 6 (Exploration for and Evaluation of Mineral Resources) or prior experience in the junior resources sector

–    Strong working knowledge of Xero

–    Exposure to company secretarial or listed-company governance functions

–    A track record of managing audit processes independently with minimal CFO oversight

–    Ambition to grow into a Financial Controller role within a listed-company environment
