In this role you will prepare financial statements, support budgets and accounting policy, maintain internal control systems, and lead a small finance team, consistent with the responsibilities of an Accountant (General) under ANZSCO 221111.
Key Duties and Responsibilities

Budgeting, Forecasting & Cashflow
Assist in formulating and implementing budgetary and accounting policies, and lead preparation of the annual budget for all Group entities, including board‑level reporting.
Assist with cashflow forecasting, appraising cash positions and financial risks to support organisational growth and strategic decision‑making.
Support the assessment and financial acquittal of grant and tender opportunities, including preparation of financial reports and funding acquittals.
Management Accounting & Systems
Analyse and report on business performance, including variance and trend analysis, and provide management with reports and commentary to support planning and decisions.
Assist with financial control of administration and consumer budgets, ensuring expenditure aligns with funding, policies, and internal controls.
Drive improvement in financial reporting systems and management information, including introducing, maintaining, and refining accounting systems and reporting processes.
Support the introduction and optimisation of new financial systems and tools (including AI‑enabled workflows and business intelligence solutions) to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and insight.
Fleet & Operational Finance
Oversee day‑to‑day accounting for a large vehicle fleet of 200+ vehicles, including asset recognition, depreciation, and operating cost analysis.
Support Corporate Services functions including Claiming, Payroll, and Asset Management, ensuring sound financial processes, reconciliations, and compliance.
People Leadership
Supervise and develop an Accountant and two Administration Officers, including day‑to‑day guidance, workload management, coaching, and formal performance management.
Contribute to a positive, high‑performing team culture within the finance function.
Essential Criteria
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
Qualified accountant with full membership of CA ANZ, CPA Australia, ACCA, or equivalent, consistent with ANZSCO Skill Level 1 requirements for Accountant (General).
Minimum five years’ post‑qualification experience, including at least three years’ experience in external audit (ideally with a mid‑tier or Big 4 firm), demonstrating strong foundations in financial controls, risk, and compliance.
Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development (CPD), including active engagement with your professional body and awareness of emerging developments in accounting and financial reporting.
Proficiency in MYOB, with experience managing multi‑entity environments and complex chart of accounts structures.
Power BI (or similar BI tool) experience, with the ability to build, maintain, and present dashboards and financial reports for management and board audiences.
Experience building complex financial models (scenario analysis, budgeting, cashflow forecasting) in Excel and/or other platforms.
Working knowledge of AI tools as applied to finance and accounting workflows, and an interest in improving efficiency, accuracy, and insight through technology.
Current NDIS Worker Screening clearance, or willingness to obtain one prior to commencement.
Desirable Criteria
Experience in the disability services, community services, or not‑for‑profit sector.
