Bustle is a Perth based software company founded in 2015 that specialises in the transport industry with specific solutions to road freight and heavy vehicles. Our product is a SaaS platform that digitises and automates outdated process, making the complex simple for our users.

Bustle's platform consists of 5 main modules: Compliance, Operations, Assets, Electronic Work Diary and Finance. The development team is focused on delivering our companies vision and solving our key clients' problems. Part of the delivery is a freedom to create, implement and refine the software in real market situations whilst working closely with some of Australia's largest transport and supply chain businesses.

ABOUT THE ROLE                                                              

We are seeking a commercially minded Management Accountant to play a key role in driving the financial performance and strategic growth of the business. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will provide financial insight, business partnering, and operational support across multiple departments.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working independently while collaborating closely with leadership, technology teams, operations, and other business functions. You will be responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, managing budgeting and forecasting processes, evaluating investment opportunities, and ensuring strong financial governance across the organisation.

Experience within software, technology, SaaS, or project-based environments will be highly regarded.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts and financial reports.

  • Analyse financial performance, providing meaningful insights and recommendations to support decision-making.

  • Monitor key business drivers, KPIs, revenue streams, expenditure trends, and financial commitments.

  • Support month-end and year-end reporting processes.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and reforecasting activities across the business.

  • Prepare variance analysis and budget-to-actual reporting, identifying opportunities and risks.

  • Develop and maintain financial models, forecasts, business cases, and scenario analyses to support strategic initiatives.

Capital Expenditure & Investment Governance

  • Manage capital expenditure planning, allocation, and tracking across the organisation.

  • Assess and review business cases for technology investments, software platforms, infrastructure, equipment, and development projects.

  • Monitor project spend against approved budgets and provide visibility of investment performance and ROI.

  • Support resource allocation decisions to ensure capital is deployed effectively and aligned with strategic priorities.

Business Partnering

  • Work collaboratively with technology, development, operations, and leadership teams to support commercial decision-making.

  • Provide financial guidance on projects, initiatives, and operational improvements.

  • Challenge assumptions and identify opportunities to improve profitability, efficiency, and financial outcomes.

  • Assist department leaders in understanding and managing their budgets and financial performance.

Financial Operations & Governance

  • Oversee payroll processing.

  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.

  • Support approval processes for technology expenditure, software subscriptions, equipment purchases, and third-party vendor engagements.

  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives that strengthen financial controls and operational efficiency.

  • Provide support on finance-related HR administration, including leave management and workforce planning activities.

  • Undertake additional finance and commercial responsibilities as required.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

 Essential

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, or a related discipline.

  • CA or CPA qualification (or nearing completion).

  • Minimum 4+ years' experience in management accounting, commercial finance, or financial analysis roles.

  • Demonstrated ability to leverage business systems and technology to automate processes, improve reporting, enhance controls, and drive operational efficiencies.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial modelling skills.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and commercial acumen.

  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders across all levels of the business.

Desirable

  • Experience within software, technology, SaaS, digital services, or project-based organisations.

  • Exposure to capital expenditure management, investment appraisal, and business case development.

  • Experience partnering with technology, engineering, product, or project delivery teams.

  • Knowledge of the road freight, logistics, or transport industry.

  • Strong proficiency in Xero and the ability to leverage business systems, integrations, and reporting tools to improve financial processes and drive automation.

  • Experience developing management reporting, dashboards, and performance metrics using financial and operational data.

  • Exposure to HR or workforce planning functions.
